What is ITBeurope?

ITBeurope is an action and results oriented initiative to boost Europe's ICT industry.
ITBeurope is a network of European ICT associations with multiple functions:
ITBeurope is
- A Think Tank, bringing specialists together to think about Europe’s digital future.
- A Lobby, proposing and campaigning strategies and measures for Europe’s succesfull transition into a knowledge based economy and society
- A Service Organisation, helping mainly small and medium sized enterprises with marketing, cooperation and internationalisation
- A Communication platform, collecting and distributing interesting news, organizing and promoting events, and publishing IT related market information.

ITBeurope focuses on the following goals:
- Promotion of Europe's information technology industry
- Fostering of B2B-cooperation
- Easing the access to international markets and capital.
- ITBeurope is also at the disposition of international IT companies who need assistance in accessing European markets.

In furtherance of these broad-based objectives, ITBeurope wants to encourage technology transfer, marketing for small and medium sized companies, and increase IT related business between central European countries and the rest of the world.

ITBeurope is in the center of a worldwide partner network of large and small IT companies, international and national associations, universities, research institutes and governmental institutions.

Background:
Europe’s share of the world's information and communications technology (ICT) market is 29%, but countries like Sweden, Switzerland and Finland there is a much higher potential. The rates in European innovation, R&D and export can be raised substantially. Especially the markets in the new EU accession states indicate high potential with annual growth rates between 10 and 20%.

The European Union plans to make Europe the most competitive economic region worldwide. This goal needs a lot of effort. Europe’s information and communication technology industries can be among the key economic factors to reach this goal if they understand Europe as a market and take advantage of its opportunities.
